Up to three ounces of marijuana in your possession is a misdemeanor that can get you up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine. If you are caught with more than 3 ounces of marijuana, you could face up to 5 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Keep in mind that possessing marijuana within 500 feet of a school can result in an extra $500 fine.
