Does Colorado have a recreational use program?

Yes, recreational use is legal in Colorado. In 2012, Amendment 64 made marijuana use for recreational purposes legal in Colorado. This Amendment was added to Colorado’s Constitution as Article XVIII, Section 16.

 

Does Colorado have a medical program?

Yes, medical cannabis is legal in Colorado. A part of Colorado’s Constitution called Article XVIII, Section 14 made medical marijuana legal in the year 2000.

 

What are the rules for medical use?

Any person in Colorado who wants to legally get medical marijuana must first get a prescription from a trained medical person. They must also bring their medical marijuana card and a government-issued ID. Medical marijuana patients and their caretakers who are registered with the government are the only ones who can legally buy marijuana goods from dispensaries.

To get a medical marijuana card, you need to fill out an online application through the CDPHE system. 

Medical marijuana dispensaries check the Colorado medical marijuana registry database to make sure that buyers are registered in the state’s medical marijuana program and who they say they are before giving out cannabis goods.

What are the medical program limits?

Medical marijuana patients and their approved caregivers are only allowed to buy and have up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana.

This also means that they can only give up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana to other patients or their caretakers without getting paid for it.

 

What methods of use are permitted under the medical program?

There are no clear medical rules available.

 

Is there home delivery for medical cannabis?

Yes. Medical marijuana patients in Colorado who are registered and at least 21 years old can get marijuana delivered.

Parents or guardians of patients younger than 18 can also get marijuana delivered. Adults (at least 21 years old) who use marijuana for recreational purposes can also get it delivered to their homes.

 

Is CBD legal in Colorado?

Yes, CBD is legal in Colorado. CBD oils made from industrial hemp can be used by anyone, and there are no age limits on doing so. Their amount of THC is so low that they can’t get people high.

CBD oil made from marijuana is also allowed. Amendment 64 of the Colorado legislature says that people aged 21 and up can buy, acquire, use, and transport certain amounts of CBD oil made from marijuana.

 

Is cannabis decriminalized in Colorado?

Yes, cannabis is decriminalized in Colorado. Even though Colorado has legalized marijuana, people who illegally hold, sell, or grow marijuana can still be punished.

In Colorado, having more than 2 ounces of marijuana is a minor crime that can get you a $100 fine.
