Does Poland have a recreational use program?

No, Poland does not have a recreational use program. Although it was designated as a narcotic in 1951, it wasn’t until 1997 that using and possessing the drug was made illegal. 

 

Does Poland have a medical program?

Yes, medical cannabis is legal in Poland. It became legal for doctors to recommend marijuana as a treatment for certain medical illnesses in November 2017, marking the beginning of the usage of cannabis for medicinal purposes.

 

What are the rules for medical use?

The law allows doctors to recommend medicinal cannabis products for any illness as long as a clinical study demonstrates the product’s efficacy.

The legislation specifies that Polish pharmacists are allowed to handle cannabis plants that have been imported, provided that the processing is registered with the Office for Registration of Medical Products.

Every product will be protected by the mandated health insurance program.

 

What are the qualifying medical conditions for eligibility?

Multiple sclerosis, spasticity, chemotherapy-induced nausea, persistent pain, and treatment-resistant epilepsy are among the qualifying conditions. However, the doctor may choose to consider other qualifying conditions.

What are the medical program limits?

There is not a lot of information about how much cannabis medical users can have on them. Every patient is evaluated individually for each situation.

A non-binding guideline, meanwhile, states that patients should not keep more than 90 days’ supply of high THC-based medicinal drugs for daily treatment.

Cannabis with a THC content of more than 0.3% may be grown by research institutions and pharmaceutical businesses, although a license is required.

In Poland, it is legal to import and sell cannabis as long as it is used by official regulations as a prescription drug.

 

What methods of use are permitted under the medical program?

Pharmacies can sell non-herbal medications as well as flower, tinctures, resin, concentrates, and oil.

Yes, CBD is legal in Poland. Products made from CBD, are permitted in Poland as long as the THC content is less than 0.2%. This implies that there are no penalties for the purchase or use of products like CBD oils, pills, and lotions.

 

Is cannabis decriminalized in Poland?

No, cannabis is not decriminalized in Poland. In Poland, possession of cannabis, or any other prohibited substance, carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison.

Charges for small amounts of personal possession may be dropped by prosecutors, but they are not required to. You might go to jail for six months to a year if you are found in possession of significant quantities of cannabis or if the police believe you have intentions of selling it.
