No, Lithuania does not have a recreational use program.

 

Does Lithuania have a medical program?

Yes, medical cannabis is legal in Lithuania. The use of cannabis-based medications for patients with specific medical disorders was authorized by the Lithuanian government in 2019. These medications can only be purchased from a certified pharmacy and require a prescription from a physician.

 

What are the rules for medical use?

In contrast to the US, medical professionals are only allowed to recommend medical marijuana for ailments for which studies have demonstrated the drug’s efficacy and safety. However, there have been many unjustified delays in cannabis research, and the way cannabis is now scheduled doesn’t help the situation.

Medical professionals in Lithuania who want to prescribe medical marijuana face numerous obstacles, which ultimately affect the amount of people who require medical marijuana. No patient has been able to lawfully receive this type of treatment up until this point.

Is CBD legal in Lithuania?

If CBD is derived from hemp, then it is legal in Lithuania. The legal THC limit, however, is 0% according to the Drug, Tobacco and Alcohol Control Department (DBACD). It is hard to find any legal CBD products in Lithuania because of the 0% tolerance to THC. Local stores in Lithuania have a hard time getting even cannabis seeds.

 

Is cannabis decriminalized in Lithuania?

Yes, cannabis is decriminalized in Lithuania. It is no longer illegal to possess small amounts of cannabis (oil, resin, or extracts) that are likely intended for personal use. A punishment of up to 300 euros is imposed for certain types of violations. Large-scale cannabis possession to sell or distribute is illegal and carries a jail sentence.
