Does Jamaica have a recreational use program?

No, Jamaica does not have a recreational use program.

 

Does Jamaica have a medical program?

Yes, medical cannabis is legal in Jamaica. As of 2015, changes were made to the Dangerous Drugs Act that made it legal to grow, process, and sell medical marijuana.

 

What are the rules for medical use?

Patients need to get certification from a licensed medical professional attesting to their sickness.

The practitioner must expressly advise them to medicinal cannabis, and all purchases must abide by guidelines.

Individuals over the age of 18 are permitted to seek a prescription from a registered physician. Those who come to Jamaica may also use medicinal cannabis as long as they seek consent.

 

What are the qualifying medical conditions for eligibility?

People with terminal illnesses, cancer, or other chronic illnesses are eligible to purchase cannabis products for medical use under the 2015 revisions to the Dangerous Drugs Act.

What are the medical program limits?

People can legally have less than two ounces of marijuana and grow up to five plants per home for their use. 

Rastafarians who are at least eighteen years old may apply to grow marijuana for spiritual reasons.

 

What methods of use are permitted under the medical program?

No clear medical rules yet.

 

Is there home delivery for medical cannabis?

No. Stores with licenses aren’t allowed to help patients get deliveries outside of their licensed facilities.

 

Is CBD legal in Jamaica?

Yes, CBD is legal in Jamaica. Because THC content in CBD is deemed insufficient to induce a “high”, the government of Jamaica has legalized the substance.  

 

Is cannabis decriminalized in Jamaica?

Yes, cannabis is decriminalized in Jamaica. More than two ounces of cannabis in one’s possession is illegal.
